Hi, I’m Alessandro.
The Colorkrew Biz team recently went on a company camp at the Enoshima Beach House to make up for the disruptions caused by COVID-19. While the team had done well with remote work, the employer knew that in-person interactions and team bonding were important.
We spent two days in a dreamy Beach House in the stunning Enoshima, partying and enjoying yourselves with our teammates. But that’s not all - in between all the fun, we also had the opportunity to tackle interesting technical challenges and come up with improvements for our product. It was the perfect blend of work and play!
The camp was a chance for the team to talk about how to make the company better and have some fun team-building activities. It was a welcome break from the daily routine and a chance for the team to reconnect and relax after a tough year. The team really appreciated the chance to see each other in person.
The camp
The camp was organized by Jan, Colorkrew Biz lead developer, and held at the beach house the company rented for the weekend in Enoshima - a small island off the Shōnan coast of Japan’s Kanagawa Prefecture.
We traveled from Tokyo to Kamakura and settled in the beach house in the afternoon. It was winter, so the outside was cold, but the beach house was warm and cozy. We had a busy schedule planned for the day, starting with presentations from each member of the developer team. Each presentation was about what we were currently working on and ideas for improving the system. It was a great opportunity for us to share our thoughts and collaborate on new features for Colorkrew Biz.
After the presentations, it was time to get ready for dinner. We decided to have a BBQ in the beach house backyard. The food was delicious and it was a great way to relax after a long day of work. We all enjoyed chatting and getting to know each other better as we grilled up various meats and vegetables.
The BBQ in the backyard was the perfect way to end the day and bond with our team. It was a memorable and enjoyable experience that we all looked back on fondly.
Outcomes
One of the outcomes of the Colorkrew company camp was the good discussion that took place among the team. The in-person setting and focused agenda provided an opportunity for team members to delve into specific topics and share their ideas and perspectives. The team was able to have open and honest conversations about ways to improve the company and our product, and everyone was enthusiastic about working on the ideas that were discussed at the camp. It was clear that the team was engaged and invested in finding solutions and moving the company forward. The positive energy and enthusiasm that came out of the camp was contagious and set the stage for continued collaboration and progress in the coming months.
Another outcome of the Colorkrew company camp was the realization that the team is growing and thriving. The team has experienced significant growth in the past year, and the camp provided an opportunity for new team members to get to know each other better and for the entire team to bond and strengthen their connections. The positive atmosphere and productive discussions at the camp further solidified the team’s sense of unity and purpose. As a result, the company is already planning to hold another camp next year to continue building on the progress and positive momentum generated by this year’s event.
The team left the camp feeling energized and motivated to work on these improvements, and we are excited to see how these discussions will translate into tangible results for our product.
